Santa Claus is coming to town

Just wanted to share the boys' picture with Santa & Mrs. Claus

We went to a Santa breakfast and Santa arrived just around nap time. While Jackson & Peyton didn't seem to mind, Brett just couldn't stay awake. He literally fell asleep as soon as he got on Santa's lap. Jackson & Peyton did OK although slightly freaked out. They continue to look at the picture and call Mrs. Claus Grammy - which I think is just so sweet.

Update on Ernie
I also wanted to share a funny story about our elf Ernie (see previous post). One morning we found him climbing out of the cereal box on the kitchen table. By late afternoon while the boys were having a snack he was starting to slump over the top of the box and ended up tipping the box over and spilling my can of soda on the floor and then landing in the puddle. I went to pick him up and the boys shouted (I have told them many times that you can't touch Ernie or he loses his magic and cannot go back to the North Pole). So I grabbed a paper towel and picked him up and ran his white collar and hat trim under cold water. Wrapped in a paper towel I then returned Ernie to the box on the table and Jackson said "Ernie? Time out?" Yes - the boys wanted Ernie to get a time out for spilling my soda!
This time I guess Ernie gets a check on the Naughty side of the list.

The itsy bitsy spider

I'm a bit behind on my posts. This happened last week, but I still wanted to share it.

The boys love spiders. I don't mind them when they are outside, but the thought of them lurking in the night in the house does give me the creeps. But when I saw a spider crawling across the boys' bedroom floor I decided to point it out to them to see how they would react. All I can say is - that poor spider.
Here's some video Tate was able to capture:

Afterward I scooped the spider up from under the toy box walked down the hall and squished it in a tissue. Peyton must have asked "Spider?" a hundred times after that and I said I let it outside and he kept saying "Outside?" I'm not sure he bought my story.

He knows if you've been bad or good

On Sunday we celebrated St. Nicholas Day and the boys woke up to find our new house guest for the holidays - Ernie the Elf.
For those of you unfamiliar Elf on a Shelf is usually an Elf who is sent by Santa. The elf hangs out and each night magically returns to the North Pole to report to Santa about how everyone is behaving. The elf returns by morning and can be mischievous so you never know where you will find him the next morning. There are lots of variations of the tradition, but that is how it plays out here.
So Ernie arrived Sunday morning - we explained that he was helping report back to Santa for his Naughty or Nice list and less than an hour later this is what I walked in on after taking less than 2 minutes to go to the bathroom:
And later that afternoon:
Because I rushed out of the bathroom when I heard the crash that brought the recycling can down I forgot to shut the bathroom door! Thankfully we were toward the end of a roll.
Needless to say there were a few things in the Naughty column on Ernie's first report!
